Cataract may be defined as a clouding that develops in the crystalline lens of the eye or in its envelope, varying in degree from less eyesight to complete opacity and obstructing the passage of light. Cataract is also a cloudiness or opacity in the transparent crystalline lens of the eye. This cloudiness can cause a decrease in vision and causes eventual blindness. Mostly, Cataract occurs during or shortly subsequent to birth that are termed as congenital cataracts.
